We had a wonderful opportunity to go to a real farm with our homeschool support group last month. The boys had a BLAST and so did I. It went perfectly with our farm unit!
I wanted to review all the wealthy of information we had learned that day. This little play bin was a perfect way to get the kids talking and interacting with their new found knowledge.
I’m not sure if I did this correctly, but I just boiled some spaghetti noodles and added some food dye to the boiling water. Every tutorial on dying pasta seemed to be for uncooked pasta. Who knows, it worked.
I didn’t have too many good farm manipulatives, so I improvised. We have a similar Wooden Chunky Puzzle so those served as our animals. Then I just found some “Little People” to run the farm.
Lumpy, who was 12 months at the time, had the most fun with this. Mostly because he loved the spaghetti.
We used two bins, either to represent two fields, or because I cooked way too much pasta.

Boasting in Weakness: Don’t go thinking I’m super mom. Sometimes a whole week can go by where I don’t do a single intentional learning activity. And while that’s ok, if I’m honest, sometimes that happens because I’m far too focused on my own to-do list. Can you relate?
