My family has been slowly trying to eradicate the harmful chemicals in our lives. You can follow along in our journey to green up our lives WITHOUT getting overwhelmed.
I’m admittedly not much of a clean freak. When thinking of replacing our household cleaners with more natural ones, thankfully, the list was not long.
One product that I couldn’t live without was a glass/window cleaner. I knew would get a ton of use around here. I’m pretty sure I’m the messiest tooth-brusher in the land!
This stuff works WAY better than the store bought brand and doesn’t have scary ammonia in it.
Even my highly skeptical parents used it on their windows with great success.
I found this recipe on Crunchy Betty. Find the original recipe here. She’s got some awesome sauce recipes for all things natural. Just don’t get overwhelmed! wink wink
Without further ado:
- 1/4 c. white vinegar
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 2 c. warm water
Shake that sucker up. The cornstarch does a great job of getting the grit off. When you first try and wipe it off, don’t freak if it seems extremely streaky. Just grab a dry cloth/paper towel to buff that last bit away. Flawless!
Note: I tried to take pictures, but there was nothing to see. (That’s a good thing.)

Boasting In Weakness: I don’t clean my bathrooms until at least a week after I can’t stand it any more. It’s bad folks.
Why would I admit this to you? Why don’t I want you to think I’m perfect?

Love your humor, Julie…and I love trying your new ideas! Thanks for taking the time and energy to share them. I have been using only Baking Soda as my hair care product for the last month, and could not be happier! 🙂 Good by chemicals…hello healthy life! (one at a time)

Great ideas, Julie! I’m just starting trying to live more natural… at least in some areas! I definitely am trying to start using more natural cleaning products. I used to use bleach all the time and I hate the way it smells and I know it’s got to be terrible for me to breathe in! Yikes!
I like your idea for glass cleaner. Another idea is just to use water and a microfiber towel. I have cleaned houses professionally using just those two things, and any mirrors, windows, glass tables, etc look amazing afterwards! No hassles or extra products needed! 🙂
Anyways, just a thought! I’d like to try your method too! Thanks so much for your posts. Keep up the good work! 🙂

Thanks for writing Ashlyn! You know, I honestly haven’t tried microfiber yet though I keep hearing GREAT things! I better get on that! Good luck in the process!
