If you’re a blogger like me, income reports are a special treat! I love peaking into the inner workings of peoples blogs to see how I can improve!
I really slacked off with last year’s income reports. I kept meaning to go back and fill in all the missing data but alas, I’m giving up that dream. We’ll just start things anew this year.
Without further ado, here’s a very part-time blogger’s income report.
January Stats
Pageviews – 104,112
Unique Users – 68,100
Earnings
Amazon – $129.02 Affiliate Sales
The Blogger Network – $292.61 Ad Revenue
Affiliate Income (Selling Other Bloggers Books) – $23.55
IZEA – $350 Sponsored Posts
My Products – $21
Income Total – $816.18
Expenses
Hosting – $36 I use TechSurgeons and love them to pieces! They sped up my site and I feel so comfortable being able to talk to the SAME real live person every time I have a question. I’ve used RFE in the past and was pleased. They’re a cheaper option and they can TOTAL handle huge spikes in traffic with ease! NO fear of capping.
Pinterest Scheduler – $9.99 Tailwind is a life saver! They have some excellent features that make pinning your own content to multiple boards easy and fast! They’re also the only scheduler approved by Pinterest!
Newsletter Service – $27 Mad Mimi is my email service provider and I just upgraded to the paid service. Even when I was on the free plan, the customer service was astonishingly good! Now that I’m on the paid plan, I’m loving the drip campaign feature. It automatically sends out a series of pre-written introductory emails to new subscribers.
Stock Photography – $10 Dollar Photo Club
IZEA – $1 Sponsored Posts (Member Fee)
Virtual Assistant – $81
Expenses Total – $164.99
Net Income – $651.19
Thoughts:
I’m really pleased with these numbers. I think the thing that has me the most excited is that instead of one viral post, my views are far more spread out and steady across many posts. One thing I’m doing differently this year is organizing my time. I am a VERY part time blogger so when I finally do have a moment to work, I need to know exactly what to do, instead of running around like a chicken with my head cut off! I made a list of EVERYTHING I want to do on a reoccurring basis and split them up by daily, weekly and monthly tasks. I do the dailies in the morning, the weeklies on a certain night each week, and Wednesdays are saved for the monthly tasks (there’s four so it works out perfectly!).
And my big secret is that I hired a Virtual Assistant to help me get all these tasks done. She’s GREAT! I highly recommend getting a VA. It’s renewed my excitement about blogging to have the tasks I hate, done by others.
At the end of the month I discovered TheseReads. Within a day of joining I was getting 200 views a day from them! That is some good return on investment! I can’t wait to see it grow in Feburary! Follow my blog, and my personal account and join in the fun!

Look at you go. I love how early on you’re outsourcing the “not so enjoyable” tasks. That is the way to do it.
If I may pry: Where is your VA from? I assume that is very part time. Trying to convince my wife to get herself a VA for her food blog.

Great question. I found her through a fellow blogger in my tribe who highly recommended her. This is what she and her husband do for a living and they’re great at it! We’ve never met, just communicate via email and such.
