Sensory bins are easy, fun ways to get tactile input and learn all sorts of things! We decided to practice our counting and adding skills with this simple dinosaur sensory bin.

Supplies:
Bin
Colored Rice
Dice
Directions:
Fill the bin with colored rice and at least 12 dinosaurs. For younger kids, give them one die and have the roll it. After recognizing the number they’ve rolled, they can pick out that many dinosaurs. Make it harder by having them only pick out a certain colored dinosaur.
Older children can learn simple addition by rolling two or more dice, adding to find the some and then grabbing that many dinosaurs. You could even practice multiplication if you have enough dinosaurs. We turned it into a competitive game by seeing who was the first to complete “excavate” the last of the dinosaurs in the bin.
Join our private group on Facebook exclusively for homeschooling preschoolers! It’s a great place to share ideas and encouragement!
