Letter Hunt Alphabet Sensory Bag

March 7, 2016 By Julie 4 Comments

I have a problem.

I’m addicted to coloring rice for sensory bin fillers.

But even though I can’t get enough of the vivid colors and fun textures in my hands, I’m kinda sick of having the rice all over my floor! So I decided to keep things contained this week and chose a sensory BAG instead!

Supplies:

Colored Rice

Alphabet Beads

Clear Plastic Bag

Instructions for the Alphabet Sensory Bag:

Place the rice and the beads inside the plastic bag and then seal it well. Spread it out flat so that a large majority of the beads are visible.

Depending on your child’s skill level, they could search for letters you call out, find letters based on their sounds, or even spell simple words. I had my boys make a game out of it by having them race to find letters. Once my younger one lost interest in the alphabet sensory bag, my oldest continued by spelling sight words.

This is a simple, mess-free way to get your students comfortable around the alphabet.
