I’ve always loved to swim!
I was one of those babies that fell asleep while floating on their back. In my teen years, I taught swimming lessons and eventually became a lifeguard, saving four lives.
While the water has always drawn me to it, I’ve also always had a respectful fear of it.
It can be dangerous, and not taking the pool, lake or ocean seriously can have tragic results.
When my kids were born, I figured they’d love the water as much as I do. Well, my oldest has sensory processing disorder and he hates bath time, let alone pools. And as much as I hate to admit defeat, I needed someone to give him swimming lessons, other than myself.
Thank you to the British Swim School for giving my boys free swimming lessons in exchange for this post!
I found a swim school that even my youngest son could participate in at only a couple months old.
I really loved that the focus was on teaching the littlest ones survival skills. It’s all about getting kids to instinctively position themselves to pop up after falling in and float.
My kids grew leaps and bounds with their comfort level in the water. The instructors made everything SO fun! Half of the class time was intentionally play time so that the kids would get used to water without even knowing it! It was just what they needed.
I highly recommend British Swim Schools for their attention to what matters.
Can my kids do a pretty front crawl? No.
Do my kids have a fighting chance if they accidentally fall in the water? Absolutely.
This little guy is my fish. He loves the water like his mama!
So don’t put off teaching your child the vital skill of water safety. They’re never too young. You’ll be blown away by what the British Swim school can help your child master. It could even save their life!

We started swimming lessons at 6 months for our youngest. Both girls love it! And it is reassuring knowing that they can handle themselves in water.
