Rainbow Circle Art

February 18, 2015 By: Julie5 Comments

This month in our preschool, we’re studying art. It’s not my forte nor my son’s strength, but we’re really enjoying getting creative and trying new things. This project turned into a variety of learning activities. Rainbows for St. Patrick’s Day, color sorting, fine motor skills. We even got a lot of sensory input from the hole punch.

Supplies:

1.5-Inch Circle Punch

Construction Paper in all the Colors of the Rainbow

Roll of White Drawing Paper

Glue

Instructions:

Use the circle punch to create many many many colorful circles. (This was such a terrific exercise for Loopy. He has Sensory Processing Disorder which has resulted in a lot of fine and gross motor difficulties. It improves his bilateral coordination and core strength.)

Next, take a large sheet of white paper. Squeeze the glue out in an arch shape. Have your child sort the colors and place them end to end along the arch.

It took a lot of time and patience, but I was so impressed with Loopy’s rainbow art and he was SO proud!
