I’ve made many a sensory bin in my day, but this one may in fact be my three year old’s all-time favorite.
It’s really a combination of two sensory bins and it quadruples the fun!

Thank you to the Toybrary of Austin for generously giving my family a membership in exchange for showcasing some of their amazing toys!
Supplies:
Colored Rice
A Bin (We have fallen in love with this table/double sensory bin)
Directions:
Start with the rice and the blocks separated. Then just let your kids play! You’ll be amazed at what they can come up with!
My threenager always starts out by combining everything and running his fingers through the mixture over and over. Great tactile input!
After a while, he starts bringing order to the chaos.
I didn’t get pictures of it, but this activity eventually morphed into “cookies” with “sprinkles”. He doesn’t like the name chef but insists I call him “the Maker”. Hee hee!
He has spent every spare moment playing with this set-up all week. I think he’d play with it until every. single. grain. of rice has been strewn about the house, if I’d let him.
We borrowed the tree blocks from the Toybrary of Austin. A”Toybrary” is exactly what it sounds like; a library for TOYS! There are tons of open-ended toys that spark the imagination! Liza, the owner of the Toybrary is awesome at getting educational, playful toys that help kids be kids! If you’re anywhere near Austin, consider investing in a membership with them.
They’re having a “Zoofari” Petting Zoo August 12th, 10:30-11:30 that will delight your kiddos! (Check out the website for details!)
