“Serious” Fun Saturdays: Cloud-Like Playdough Recipe

July 5, 2014 By Julie 3 Comments

2 ingredient playdough

Are you looking for a simple, luxurious playdough recipe? Two ingredients and no heat sound simple enough?

This stuff is almost as delightful as squeezing my one year old’s thighs. Pure bliss.

As a kid’s blogger,I’m a little embarrassed to admit that this is only my second attempt at homemade playdough.

Cooking? PAHleese. I’ll just buy the stuff thanks.

But this recipe from “Early Activities and Projects” was too good not to try and I’m so glad I did!

You just need some cheap hair conditioner and roughly twice as much cornstarch.

I was convinced that all I had made was a royal mess. But I kept kneading until all of a sudden I realized that it had turned to dough. Play with the ratios and really work the cornstarch into the conditioner.

Feel free to add food coloring if you desire.

Here’s what Loopy created. I’m ridiculously proud of this one. He went from only making “snakes” and “cookies”, to this!

Boasting In Weakness: Today is nothing heart wrenching. I am terrible about leaving stuff out to spoil. Playdough is no exception. This stuff should have lasted us a while. But true to style, I left it out for Daddy to see, then forgot about it in the dinner chaos, only to wake up to a rock hard snowman. Sad.

I try and give you a more realistic impression of my life at the end of every post.  Wanna know why?

I would have never thought to use hair conditioner but this is pretty cool.

I’m always shocked at the common household products you can use to make fun concoctions! Hope you enjoy playing with this one!

[…] Play Dough. Yet one more avenue for proprioceptive input through the hands. We usually do store bought because the small tubs are convenient for the basket. But we also like to make our own. […]
