Construction Themed Third Birthday

When Loopy turned three, I wanted an easy theme for decorations and play. The natural choice was construction trucks.

Just stick your dirt cake in the back of a dump truck to make your boys drool even more!

I decided to kill two birds with one stone by having our preschool unit for the month be about construction as well. I got a bunch of books from the library and even used those as decorations for the party; encouraging parents to read to their kiddos. I also grabbed some toys laying around the house that had a construction theme. I love not having to spend money!

Since Loopy can never get enough truck play, I set up this fun station with different trucks and play materials. (We eventually took the sand filled one outside, which we should have done from the get-go.) Loopy’s birthday present had a construction theme to it as well, so we just set that up and let the kids play.
We used this 5-Pack of CAT Mini Machine  pretty much every day. Less than $6!

Craigslist score!

The snacks were super fun. With a little creativity and a lot of help from Pinterest, each snack had a more “constructiony” name.

We’ve got pebbles, logs, wrecking balls, boulder, and lumber here.
Crazy simple decoration. Just smash a corner and set the trucks up accordingly.
This of course was the refueling station.
Lots of orange going on.

I got all of these free printable from birthdayexpress.com but the link is no longer working. I’m so sad! But just type some key words into Pinterest. There’s a wealth of material to choose from.

Happy Birthday Loopy!!! It is a joy to be your mom!

Boasting In Weakness: Welp, I already forgot about putting a little blurb at the end of every post. And this is the first one. Nice goin’ Smalls. Well, the first BIW I can think of is that I stink at potty training. I thought after a year we’d finally got it down. Today changed that…

Why tell you this? Because I’m not as good as this blog makes me look. In fact, I need a Rescuer, daily. Read more about the comparison game and why I want no part in it.

My son would love this cake! He wakes up every Tuesday morning with his face glued to the screen door waiting for the trash trucks to come down the street. Then he claps and yells “YAY!!” waiting for an encore performance! 🙂 He cracks me up. I could just imagine his eyes lighting up for something like this!
