Getting Started with Natural Living: My Story

November 1, 2016 By Julie Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tom’s of Maine . All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m a procrastinator.

I’m not sure why I push things off till the deadline only to give myself a mini heart attack.

Starting to make natural choices was no different.

I knew it would be good for me and my family, but I just kept making excuses. I was burying my head in the sand, and I knew it.

Every time I would read something from people who were further down the road of natural living, I’d get overwhelmed and decide it was impossible to make positive changes.

Then I got pregnant.

As most new mothers, I desperately wanted what was best for my child. I started researching birth options. Natural birth really appealed to me. I started realizing that alternative approaches had some solid research behind them. The midwives were so helpful, knowledgeable and not “judgy”. I was hooked! One thing kept leading to another. Natural birth led to attachment parenting, attachment parenting led to natural medicine, natural medicine to natural toiletries and so on.

Our lifestyle has drastically changed, but it’s taken years to get here. And even when I advance in one area, I often times need to step back in other areas. Such as when my youngest was born with serious health concerns, I gave myself the grace to ditch the cloth diapers.

When I’m really trying to control the chemicals and ingredients in my food, cleaning products, and toiletries, I  like to make them from scratch. But that is NOT always feasible.

That’s where companies like Tom’s of Maine come to the rescue.

They are a responsible company that are transparent about their ingredients in their toiletries. They keep things simple and keep the yucky ingredients out. And you don’t have to go to the ends of the earth to find their products. Tom’s of Maine “Made to Matter” collection can only be found at your local Target.

They make a toothpaste called Luminous White ™ Toothpaste. It’s a natural whitening toothpaste that is safe for enamel. It’s also gluten and paraben free. Their Wicked Cool!™ Deodorant boys and girls is a great way to get your kids started down the natural living path early. It provides 24-hour odor protection and is free of aluminum, parabens, and artificial fragrances. Keep your kids smelling fresh, the natural way!

It’s easy to get your husband on board with natural living products when you can offer them something as effective as the Men’s Naturally Dry North Woods™ Antiperspirant. It provides all day odor and wetness protection (essential here in Texas) without nasty petrochemicals, unnecessary artificial fragrances, or painful irritation.

So what is keeping you from starting the natural living journey? Don’t let the sheer amount of changes necessary make you stall out. You don’t have to be perfect and never could be. Baby steps will get you further and healthier than you could have ever dreamed. But you have to start and Tom’s of Maine is here to make those natural living switches as easy as possible for busy moms.
