How to have a Safe and Enjoyable Road Trip

August 21, 2015 By Julie 2 Comments

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sam’s Club. All opinions are 100% mine.

Many of us are trying to squeeze in the last bits of summer fun before school starts back up.

Nothing says quintessential summer joy like a family road trip! Some of my favorite memories come from long stretches on the road with family and friends.

Unfortunately, as my responsibilities grew, road trips don’t seem to be quite as carefree anymore. But I’ve found with a little forethought and preparation, road trips with kids can be both safe and enjoyable!

Road Trip Safe and Enjoyable

Four Ways to Make Road Trips Safe and Fun…

Pick Out Road Trip Games

I can still remember all the laughs my family would have playing games in the car. Even as a college student, my buddies and I would entertain ourselves with games like “Never have I Ever”, “Would You Rather?”, “20 Questions”, “2 Truths and a Lie”, and more. The time would fly as we made memories and got to know each other even better.

Pack Snacks

The second best part of a road trip is the snacks. Have a good mix of treats and healthy food. Bring plenty! Refillable, no spill drink containers are also a must! Don’t forget to consider the mess factor. A two year old with caramel can wreak havoc on a backseat or his sister’s hair.

Plan for Places to Stop

Traveling with small children can be a logistical nightmare. Think through family friendly places to stop to eat and stretch those restless legs. Don’t forget clean comfortable places to nurse or change diapers. If you don’t know much about a stops particular accommodations, it doesn’t hurt to call ahead.

Prepare Your Carroad trip car

What’s a road trip without a car??? It’s so important to make sure your car is in great working condition and up on all it’s safety standards.

Safety starts from the tires up!

Sam’s Club is having an awesome deal on tires at their Dare to Compare Event. They have many great brands to choose from including Michelin, Goodyear, BF Goodrich and Pirelli. And with your tire purchase comes their Tire Installation Package. The package includes…

  • Tire Mounting
  • Tire Lifetime Balancing
  • Tire Lifetime Rotation
  • A Value Stem
  • No Charge Tire Lifetime Flat Repair
  • 24-hour Emergency Roadside Service

* Complete terms and conditions of all Sam’s Club warranties and services can be obtained at any Sam’s Club Tire and Battery Center location.

Different deals are being offered at different times.

  • Goodyear: 6/24/2015 – 8/31/2015 ($70 off set of 4)
  • BFG: 7/3/2015 – 8/17/2015 ($50/$70 off set of 4)
  • Michelin: 8/26/2015 – 9/27/2015 ($70 off set of 4)
  • Pirelli: 9/18/2015 – 11/30/2015 ($80 instant savings)
  • BFG 9/25/2015 – 11/7-2015 ($50/$70 off set of 4)

They even have a price matching guarantee!

This is how their “Dare to Compare” offer works: Bring a valid “all-in” quote from a tire sales and installation retailer to your Sam’s Club Tire and Battery Center service counter. The quote must be printed on dealer/retailer letterhead and dated within the past 7 business days. The tire must be the same brand, same line, same load index and speed rating (service description) as the tire intended for purchase at Sam’s Club. Sam’s Club carries some club-specific tire lines – in these cases, Sam’s Club will compare the club-specific tire line to the equivalent general-market tire line. Sam’s Club considers the following tire lines to be equivalent and will price match accordingly.

And if that wasn’t enough, sign up for the chance to win a $250 Sam’s Club Gift Card!!!

So before you head out on your final road trip of the summer, pick some games, pack some snacks, plan some stops, and prepare your car with Sam’s Club #DareToCompare event going on now!

Preparing your car before any trip is important to have a smooth ride. Always see to it that you have an emergency tire kit with you to fix your car right away when you experience road problems. Safety is the main priority when you travel, make it a habit to have your car checked.

When you are planning for a long expedition, you should add the following things to your regimen so that you can have a memorable voyage.
Get your road companion ready to make sure that all its issues have been resolved effectively.
Must have a good music and if your kids in the vehicle, arrange some video games.
You should carry snacks and other edibles with you.
Do not forget to take a survival kit consisting of car repair tools and first aid box.
Fill the fuel tank of the vehicle in the nearest gas station.
