My Mommy Resume

February 9, 2015 By Julie Leave a Comment

I’ve been a stay at home mom for a couple years now. Occasionally it crosses my mind what it would take to bust back into the career world. I worry about how my days in the toddler trenches will be viewed by professional folk.

What are my qualifications? What skills have I been developing?

Well sir, let me tell you…

I am Good at Sales

I can convince a stubborn three year old that spinach is delicious and that cleaning is a wonderful game of adventure and imagination.

I am Efficient

I can get two flailing children in the five-point car seat harnesses, securely, in under two minutes. (I DARE a novice to beat that!)

I have Mastered the Fine Art of Interpersonal Negotiations

I can restore order and leave both parties happy and satisfied after a bitter miscommunication regarding who gets the Thomas train and who gets to play with Percy.

I am adept at Research

Between Google and my all-knowing Facebook friends, I can narrow down the cause of my child’s sniffles or quirks with shocking accuracy and speed.

I have an Engineering Degree

In baby gates that is. While other adults are baffled, as young mom, I can open every version known to man, while carrying two laundry baskets.

I can Balance Challenging Things (Literally)

I can single-handed lift a potty-training toddler onto a toilet, keeping them from falling in, while nursing a baby. (Didn’t even break the latch!)

I can Juggle Many Assignments at Once

Speaking of the toilet… I can use the restroom myself, without disturbing the sleeping baby I am wearing in a wrap
around my body.

So while my skill set may not seem extremely impressive in the corporate business world, I know that I’m doing the most important job in the world; being a mom.

And I can always apply to the circus. 😉

Are you running a three-ring circus at your house? Don’t miss another post celebrating the mundane and miraculous of mommy life!
