Three Ways to Relieve Bug Bites Naturally

October 9, 2014 By Julie 2 Comments

Despite our best efforts as parents, it’s inevitable that our children will be recipients of the dreaded bug bite.  Not that we adults are immune! But my youngest son in particular tends to be the mosquitoes’ favorite snack. Since he’s only a year and a half old, he itches those things till they bleed. I’ve been desperate to find ways to relieve bug bites naturally. Here are my three favorites.

Natural Bug Bite Relief

Looking for a way to prevent mosquito bites in the first place? Try this all-natural recipe that’s actually good for you!

This post is part of a series on simple ways to “green up” your life without losing your mind! Check it out!

Lavender

Lavender Essential Oil is incredibly soothing. Unlike most essential oils, it is gentle enough to use undiluted. Both of my boys love it! The smell is lovely and takes away the annoyance immediately. Just dab a bit on when needed.

Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is terrific for skin in general. (Read about 14 great uses!) It’s an anti-inflammatory that eases the itch while drying up the ooze.
This witch hazel  has some lavender in it!

Clay

Bentonite Clay  is another all-around wonderful product for skin. I like that it stays on the skin for a prolonged period of time. It also draws out toxins so that bug bites heal sooner. It may leave your child looking like they put war paint on, but it does wonders!
