Aluminum Free Baking Powder

July 10, 2014 By Julie 5 Comments

Baking Powder

If you’re like me, the quest to eat more naturally can be overwhelming. It seems like every new article you read has some new ingredient to avoid at all costs.

I hate to add to your worries, but at least for our family, aluminum is a no-no.

And it’s in all sorts of foods. Wah. Wah.

One of the most common is baking powder. (Not baking soda, which is a hippy mama’s dream come true!) So what are you supposed to do?

Stop baking???

Dear gracious, don’t go batty on me!

Just whip up a batch of this ridiculously simple aluminum-free baking powder!

2 parts Cream of Tartar

1 part Baking Soda

1 part Starch (Corn, Arrowroot, Potato etc.)

That’s it. Works like a charm!

(Yes, aluminum free baking powder works just like regular baking powder. Why don’t they just make it that way in the first place? They’re out to get us. What can I say?

No. Actually, the only difference I notice is this recipe tends to clump up in the jar, so give it a good shake before using it.)

Boasting In Weakness: I’ve been letting this blog take me away from my family too much. I haven’t prioritized well. Just read this quote and it’s pretty much been rocking my world.

“Managing time is meant to be hard. God designed time as a test of our treasure. In the crunch and crush of demands, how we spend it reveals what we love and trust. And to love and trust what matters most, we must neglect (die to) many of the things we want to do, and many of the things we think we should do.”  Jon Bloom

I try and take a moment at the end of every post to remind you that I am NOT good enough. Find out why.

This is amazing! I love this recipe! Do you mind if I link it in a few of my posts that require baking powder?
