Homemade Organic Brown Sugar

January 5, 2015 By Julie 1 Comment

The only way our family can afford to eat (mostly) organically is by avoiding prepackaged convenience foods and making a lot of ingredients ourselves. It’s actually a lot easier to do than you might think. Take this homemade organic brown sugar recipe for example.

Brown SugarThis post contains affiliate links for your convenience. Read my full disclosure here.

Ingredients:

1 cup of Organic Cane Sugar
1-2 Tbs Organic Molasses

(I never measure, so just eyeball it.)

Mix the two ingredients with a fork. Get all the lumps out until it all turns brown. The more molasses, the darker the sugar. That’s it! Use it to bake just like you would the store bought brown sugar.

Are you wanting to “green up” your life without losing your mind in the process? Check out this series that’s full of recipes from soup mix to deodorant. Baby steps, nothing overwhelming!
