Baby-safe Slime

Now that Lumpy is one, he wants to do EVERYTHING that Loopy does. Unfortunately, he still likes to mouth stuff so he doesn’t get to participate in some of our learning activities for safety reasons. When I just had one, I felt more comfortable because I could give Loopy undivided attention. Now, Lumpy could down a whole bottle of glue or something before I even knew what was up.
When I saw this recipe of edible slime on BlogMeMom, I was all in. Two ingredients, one of them being water? Yes, please!

Please note that I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is edible. I mean, it’s safe, but you don’t want you’re little one gobbling up a laxative, got it???

Ingredients:

Psyllium Fiber Supplement (there are many types of fiber supplements. As long as psyllium is the main ingredient, you’re good.)

Water

Food Coloring (if desired)

Now you can experiment with ratios and amount of time to microwave (or you could boil it on the stove). The orange one was equal parts water to psyllium fiber. I wasn’t as much a fan, but Loopy loved building with it. The red and the poop green (someone doesn’t understand the color wheel) were 2 parts water to 1 part psyllium fiber. I was more amused by their consistency. I microwaved them all for 2 minutes each.
Both boys enjoyed playing with these for a lot longer than I expected. Loopy kept coming back to them throughout the day!
Hope you have some Serious FUN this Saturday!
Boasting In Weakness: I’ve been having a nasty pity party all day. Feeling useless and unimportant. Blerg. No reason, just exhausted and feeling like my goals are futile. Lots of lovely bloggable things happened today, but thought you all might want to know that that is not always what’s going on in my heart.

Why am I sharing this? Read why I DON’T want you to think highly of me.

Hmm I think I’d have to stay away from the red stuff – Miss E loves ketchup and she’d probably gobble it all up!

Ha ha! My oldest is also in love with ketchup. Thankfully he’s old enough to know the difference. Thanks for stopping by!

I confess – I am not a fan of slime. It just grosses me out! But my kids love it and they’d be thrilled if I tried this – maybe when the grandkids come for a visit we’ll all get slimey. Thanks for the recipe!
